How to grow your business on social media?
How to grow your business on social media?
So you have set up an account and post now and again but aren’t seeing the growth you want and need on your social platforms. Well…here are a few things you can do to improve that.
Give people a reason to follow you
First and foremost, content is key. You must create good quality content, that connects with your target audience. This is the key to locking them in. If they connect and can relate to your story then the user will stick around.
From infographics to fun reel videos on Instagram. Social media has an endless list of possibilities and your content can tap into all of them. Find your unique selling point and run with it.
Be consistent
Posting once a week and then ghosting on your social media followers, will not help you grow. You will do more damage by doing this than not posting at all. Set up a routine, or use a scheduling platform such as Hubspot to get ahead on your content.
I like to work on a month-to-month basis, as I feel super prepared and in control of my client's accounts. But even a week-to-week routine can work great. Just ensure you are using your calendar and the scheduling platform of your choice to their best ability and you should be able to tick this one off your list.
If you feel like you just don’t have the time to focus on social media management then outsource someone to do it. Here at Jessica Grace Creative, we do exactly that. We work in four steps which are:
Step 1: CONTENT DISTRIBUTION
Step 2: ACCOUNT MANAGER
Step 3: MONTHLY REPORTS
Step 4: STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT

Hold Contests
Competitions are everything right now online and they create a buzz around your business. The answer to why this is, is pretty straight forward and well it’s because they are FREE. It is free to enter and you win a free prize. What more could a consumer want.
Competitions raise brand awareness and in most cases you enter the competition by sharing the competition post to your followers. This is a very clever marketing concept, by sharing to enter, the brand is receiving free marketing and ultimately their platform is going to be seen by a wider audience.
Competitions are a win-win for any brand. They not only increase brand awareness but they increase brand loyalty and trust. If a consumer wins the prize and the process of them receiving it all runs smoothly then this is a perfect place to build trust and create repeat business.
Video, Video, Video
Most of my clients are probably sick of hearing me talk about how important video content is. But I will continue to do so because I believe it is the number one tool to growing a start up company. According to Word Stream ‘Viewers retain 95% of a message when they watch it in a video compared to 10% when reading it in text.’ A simple enough reason on why video content is so important.
The best thing about video content is that you don’t have to be an expert to make it, any of us can do it. Grab your phone and record. I will list some video content ideas for your business below.

Use Hashtags
An old rule in the book but a very important one. After sharing your post online, make sure you go back in and either edit the caption or write in the comments different hashtags. If you are unsure of what type of hashtags suit your content, softwares such as Kicksta and Flick make this process easy for you.
So why are hashtags important? Hashtags allow your content to be seen by different audiences. They ultimately grow your account/business by reaching new social media users.
Be proactive and respond to your online community
We mentioned above about being consistent but we must also engage with our audience. After you post content online, make sure you stay and respond to any comments, questions, or inquiries. Do not POST AND GHOST.
If you are not interacting with your audience, they will lose interest. If you think about it in the way that we as consumers have so many options in this digital world. We have millions of TV shows to pick from, hundreds of influencers to watch and billions of e-commerce brands to shop on. So ask yourself, why would / should this user interact with my digital content?
When you focus on building an online community around your brand, your business can and will hit new heights. If you reply to comments, answer/ask questions, etc users will return this favour and support your company.
Ultimately growing your business online, is all about being proactive. You have to make the time for it and if you can’t then make sure you have a team member who can. Finding someone passionate about digital marketing is worth investing in because to be successful in this modern world having an online presence is essential.
